It also reminded me what a huge undertaking and responsibility the Newbery is and I am so honored to have played even a small part in your journey. I can’t wait to hear more about your new book! I need guidance on living in a world on fire and kids books always have the best advice.

I spent a whole book asking myself that question, and I’m still grappling with it now.. And finding the balance when writing for kids between being honest about what’s happening and still letting them be *kids*, protected at least a little from the horrors—it’s tough work. Good work, but wow, tough. ❤️❤️
I love this so much, especially about the being able to give back. I'm not quite there YET in terms of a sustainable career, but I think that's where I'm headed, and it's a big reason I'm glad to have moved back home. Ready to help my community rise 🥰. Thanks for sharing.
